About us

Our story

On the train on the way from Rome back to Deventer, I (Ruben) reflected on the past period. Giving bike tours in Rome, a city with an amazing, was great. During the many hours on the road to my hometown of Deventer, I wondered why guided bike tours are not offered in this beautiful Hanseatic city on the river IJssel. How nice would it be to start offering that yourself?

I was reminded of my father Erik who loves to talk about Deventer, engage with people and get outdoors.

Upon returning home, I shared with him the plan to start offering bike tours together in Deventer and we immediately got to work enthusiastically. We enjoy working together and talking about this beautiful city where we were both born and raised.

Our mission is to make you enjoy our beloved city of Deventer!

Our goal is to give you the most fascinating tour of Deventer. An activity you will enjoy afterward. Are there any special items you are interested in or do you have any other request? Erik King

Guide
Born and raised in this beautiful city. Deventer has always amazed me. After all, there is so much to discover. The more I get to know the city the more I realize there is so much more to explore. It is a fine city in which the bicycle is the ultimate mode of transportation. While cycling you always come across something beautiful, The Brink with the leaning Waag building and the many terraces, the sunset over the IJssel, and the majestic Lebuinus church that is particularly beautifully lit up at night. Every time, I enjoy the secrets the city reveals to me. These discoveries I am happy to share with you.

As a born and raised Deventer, I thoroughly enjoy this beautiful city. I am regularly abroad for work. Then when I come back to Deventer after a long period of time I enjoy immensely the first view of this beautiful city on the river IJssel. It is wonderful to cycle through this historic city. The more I get to know the city the more beautiful it becomes and I want to share that with you. Will you join us?

Born and raised in Deventer I have always been interested in the Deventer of old. It started with stories from my grandfather and collecting cards and clippings. I really enjoy realizing what daily life was like in previous centuries. The fun part of being a guide is being able to share this and take you into the particulars of the time. If you, the guest, enjoyed a fun, relaxing bike tour and are excited about Deventer, my day is a success. I look forward to seeing you

As a guide, you are the face of FietStoer Deventer. You will be responsible for welcoming, safely guiding and entertaining guests.

Guiding is in part seasonal work. If you would like to work as a guide for a certain period of the year, please contact us.

Guides can be voluntary as well as paid. As a paid guide, you will receive €14 per hour all in. We charge 4 hours of working time per tour. Any tips, of course, are yours.

We will help you become a good guide. You will first go with other guides a few times to learn about the route and everything involved. Then a guide will join your tour to accompany if needed. We also introduce you to the information you need online.
